THE DVF AWARDS TO HONOR SUPERMODEL KARLIE KLOSS

Supermodel Karlie Kloss will receive the International Award at this year’s DVF Awards on April 6th at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Every year, the DVF Awards, founded by Diane Von Furstenberg and The Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation, honor five exceptional women for exemplifying strong leadership qualities and courage in their outstanding support for women’s causes. As well as receiving the honor, recipients are also provided with a $50,000 grant to continue and expand their organizations.

The 24-year-old beauty will be receiving the award for her continuous commitment to improving lives and providing opportunities for young women through her charitable acts and organizations.

In 2015, Kloss began her partnership with Flatiron School and Code.org to create Kode With Klossy, a program dedicated to providing scholarships and a two-week learning academy for young women interested in coding and technology.

As a Computer Coding student in NYU’s Computer Science program, Kloss stated of the developmental program, “I have big goals of continuing to build the community of these young women, to not only stay in touch and support and encourage and challenge each other but also learn from one another…”.

Along with her dedication to opening doors for young coders, the Express brand ambassador also partnered with Momofuku Milk Bar to sell vegan cookies appropriately named Klossies. Profits made from the pastries go to different causes including providing school lunches for children all over the world, supporting young American fashion designers and meals for hungry New Yorkers.

On March 30th, Kloss plans on unveiling her new collaboration with Express in her hometown of St.Louis, Missouri in which fans get a chance to join the upermodel on the catwalk. She jokingly calls herself a “six foot two giraffe from Lou” but it is obvious she is doing all she can to give back and continue to encourage women everywhere to live up to their full potential.
